Newly Diagnosed:  Now What?

Learning that your child has been diagnosed with autism can sometimes come as a shock.  This time can often be full of emotion. You may begin to reimagine what your child’s future may look like.  Know that you are not alone; it is normal to feel this way.  While there is no cure for autism, there are many interventions and strategies that can help your child learn new skills and grow into the very best version of themselves.  The most important part of this journey is to educate yourself about the diagnosis, the resources available, and what types of support is available in your community.  Remember to be patient with yourself.  You do not need to know or plan everything today.  Take things one step at a time, and know that little by little, day by day, you will navigate this new journey.
